Coronavirus… a pandemic increasing the difficulties of estrangement

WATAN’s campaign to help refugees affected by coronavirus

The outbreak of Covid-19 has caused a series of social and economic impacts globally. Unfortunately, refugees are always impacted the most.

Syrians living in Turkey are negatively affected by this outbreak, as refugees previously working in daily paid jobs and the service sector have now lost their jobs and become particularly vulnerable without an income.

Throughout the past month, WATAN has been working with Muslim Aid to help those affected by the Corona virus, distributing cash cards to around 140 refugee families in the city of Urfa, Southern Turkey, with the aim of helping them secure preventive supplies. Syrian refugees in Turkey face great challenges in light of this pandemic, one of the most pressing challenges is the scarcity of job opportunities, which makes them completely incapable of securing money to pay rent and purchase life necessities.
